WHAT DO THE STARS AND THE SKY TELL ME ABOUT LIFE
One of my clubs during my first year in UP High is the Stargazer’s Society. It is a hobby club. It encourages the youth or the students of UP High to discover and learn more about astronomy. We hold overnights and for this year, we already had three overnights. But I admit that during the first two, I really don’t know what’s the purpose of the overnight. It’s because all we do is just eat, watch movies, sleep, and have endless talks.
Although I also know that we are so lucky to have Mr. Christopher Go, a NASA recognized Cebuano astronomer, with us. He gives free lectures for us. He explains everything we need to know and patiently answers our questions.
During the last overnight, while I was lying on my mat with hands behind my head, I came to reflect on something. As I was looking at the stars in the night sky, I asked myself if what are the stars for? Surely, god didn’t create it for nothing. There is a reason behind it. And as the moment pass by, several thoughts came to my mind thoughts on why are the stars there. What are they for?
Then something just went inside my mind- a justification or make-believe by yours truly to explain the presence of the stars. As we all know, stars pass different stages of life- just like people. And just like people, stars also have their births and deaths. First it is still a white dwarf, then it becomes bigger, hotter and gives more light. Then as it grows old, little by little, its light fades away. It becomes smaller and cooler. And then afterwards, becomes a dead massive star or what is popularly known as the black hole.
I’m sorry but I do not intend to give you a long boring lecture about stars but I just want you to figure it out yourselves- the relevance of stars life on human life.
Just like stars, humans also pass different stages of life. From birth, we slowly grow to being a child from a baby. But in this state, we are still fragile and petite and still dependent to our parents. But as we grow older, say being a teen, we become more hyper. But being hyper doesn’t last forever. We have to have a direction. A goal and dream to follow as we grow older. Growing and becoming older by humans are just like stars which also passes this stage. And just like stars, people also die.
What the last two paragraphs implies is that if we just really think deeper and comprehend or analyze everything what is around us, we could relate it to present day issues and realities of life. Just like the stars to the life of humans and people.
